an Perez, a native Texan, has been sculpting since 1996. He has won a number of awards for both his sculptures and his painted model kits. Dan's other talents include writing and editing (he previously served as editor of Sci Fi Magazine, the official magazine of the Sci Fi Channel), as well as web and graphic design. Dan has many other interests, but sculpting has been at the forefront for quite a while.

Dan sculpts in a variety of media, but primarily works in Super Sculpey and Castilene. He has done private commissions, along with professional work for a variety of clients as well as the model branch of Dan Perez Studios.

Artistic influences include sculptors such as Yasushi Nirasawa, Takayuki Takeya, Yuji Oniki, Tony McVey, Ray Harryhausen, Phil Tippett, and the Shiflett Brothers. Dan also draws inspiration from the great painters/illustrators of fantasy, sci-fi and horror, including Frank Frazetta, Brom, Berni Wrightson, Richard Corben, Simon Bisley, Michael Whelan, Wayne Barlowe and a number of others.

Dan lives and works in Houston, Texas, a subtropical metropolis on the Gulf Coast of Texas, with his two dogs (see them here). He likes Houston because there are a lot of sculptors and model kit enthusiasts in Houston and its neighboring cities.

Dan's ongoing commitment is to produce accurate, dynamic sculptures on deadline for a variety of clients, and to constantly improve his skill and artistry.
