fter I got The
Art of the Two Towers
book, I fell in love with a maquette bust of Gollum in there and I was
seized by a desire to do a similar bust in 1:4 scale. I got started and
as I was going along, I decided I wanted to use a different photo to provide
the facial expression for Gollum (the maquette was not really very accurate,
it turns out). This 6.5 inch bust is in scale with the mass market LOTR

At
Wonderfest 2003, legendary makeup effects artist Tom Savini came up to
my table and said the Smeagol sculpture was "fantastic." That
was a real feather in my cap!
