I watched The Last of the Mohicans
and I was intrigued by Wes Studi, who plays the vengeful Huron warrior
Magua. Studi also appears (in the role of the very mysterious Sphinx)
in one of my favorite movies, Mystery Men .
Studi has such a distinctive face that I thought he'd make a great subject.
Painting this piece was interesting, as I'd never attempted Native American
skin tones before.
